Week of 5/9- Continue with the study of Rome's early republic.
Week of 3/21- In-class project. Graphic novel about one of the wars from ancient Greece.
Week of 3/14- The Peloponnesian War.
Week of 3/7- Ancient Greece's wars with the Persians.
Week of 2/29- We will learn about Greek city-states. There will be a quiz on Friday about Athens and Sparta.
Week of 2/22- Begin ancient Greece. We'll start with a lesson on geography and Greece's location.
Week of 2/15- Break
Week of 2/8- Finish ancient Israel and have a test on Friday.
Week of 2/1- Begin ancient Israel.
Week of 1/11- Continue with ancient Egypt. We will look at some famous pharaohs, hieroglyphics, and continue working on projects.
Week of 1/4- Begin ancient Egypt. Students will be receiving a writing project.
Week of 12/14- Learn about the ancient Phoenician people.
Week of 12/7- Finish with Hammurabi's code, learn about the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, review for test, and take test on Friday.
Week of 11/30- Learn about Mesopotamian empires and study Hammurabi's code.
Week of 11/23- Vocabulary quiz. Short week because of Thanksgiving.
Week of 11/16- Continue with our study of Mesopotamia. We will work on vocabulary and the Epic of Gilgamesh.
Week of 11/9- Q2 begins. We will beginning our unit on Mesopotamia. We will be working on a map activity for double block.
Week of 11/2- We will finish up with the Neolithic Age. Q1 grades close on Friday.
Week of 10/26- We will continue with the Neolithic Age and work on projects.
Week of 10/19- We will be finishing up with the Paleolithic Age and moving on to the Neolithic Age. We will also be working on the notes and plan section of our project.
Week of 10/12- We will be learning about life during the Paleolithic Age. The first project of the year will be assigned.
Week of 10/5- We will be beginning our study of early humans. We will be watching a NOVA special and discussing a new early human found this year in South Africa.
Week of 9/28- Students will learn how to conduct research on the internet. We will be spending some time in the computer lab. We will be having our first test on Friday on Chapter 1.
Week of 9/21- Students will learn how an archaeologist collects evidence. We will be doing our own archaeological dig during double block
Week of 9/14- Students will understand what a historian is and how she/he conducts research. We will also be doing an activity that helps show students how to determine reliable sources.
Week of 9/7- Introduction to history and working with timelines.
Week of 9/2- Introductions and syllabus.
